Hello!
I’m Fernando Kirreh, the author behind Book Snack, and I’m excited to share a little about myself and the journey that brought these stories to life.
A Unique Path to Storytelling
My academic journey might surprise you—my background is rooted deeply in education and social science.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in education and criminology from Hebrew University, and a master’s degree in criminology from the same institution. More recently, I completed an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at Oxford University.
At Oxford, my research focused on the powerful role that protective factors—especially involvement in sports—play in helping adolescents cope with and overcome the negative effects of witnessing domestic violence. This work has profoundly shaped how I think about resilience, hope, and the environments that nurture children’s wellbeing.
Why Children’s Books? Why Book Snack?
You might wonder how this background connects to children’s stories. For me, it’s simple: as someone who has studied the challenges kids face, I wanted to create stories that offer something different—something I would have loved to read as a child.
I dreamed of books that are short, captivating, diverse, creative, and deeply imaginative – stories that spark curiosity and empathy but also fit into the busy rhythms of family life. At Book Snack, that dream comes alive.
What Makes Book Snack Special?
Finding high-quality children’s stories that are both brief and truly engaging can be hard. Many books are either too long for little attention spans or don’t offer the rich, meaningful content that inspires young minds.
That’s where Book Snack shines. Our stories are designed to be bite-sized adventures filled with vibrant characters inspired by the real world, everyday heroes, and the magic of imagination. I draw inspiration from the diversity of people I’ve met, the resilience I’ve seen in communities, and the limitless creativity children show every day.
Writing for children is a joyful challenge. I start with a spark—sometimes a lesson I want to share, a character idea, or a vivid scene from my imagination. Then I work to craft stories that feel alive and accessible, using language that flows naturally and invites kids in.
Every story is tested with young readers (my own little “snack testers”) to make sure it holds their attention and leaves them wanting more. The goal is always to create a story that feels like a special treat—something kids want to return to again and again.
Behind the Scenes: A Team Effort
While I’m the storyteller crafting the books, I’m lucky to have my business partner (Farid Kirreh) who handles bringing Book Snack to life – from managing our website to making sure our stories reach families everywhere. Together, we make the magic happen!
